Each half term your child will be set homework across a range of subjects to support them to consolidate their learning at home. Parents and children should therefore together choose an activity each week to complete. Children will be awarded Dojo’s and raffle tickets for completing these activities.
Every week children will also bring home:
A reading record can be found in your child’s book bag. It should be completed at least 3 times per week (by an adult) to record your child’s reading at home.
Your child’s book bag book will be changed to reflect your child’s sound knowledge and fluency levels. We send book bag books home which directly link to their Phonetic or Reading abilities.
Other useful books that are recommended for Year 2 children are listed upon our “50 Recommended Reads”. Many of these books are available to loan from our school Library, Airedale Library or will be sent home each week with our Reading Mascot. These texts would be perfect for a bedtime story or when sharing a love of reading at home.
Reading Online:
As reading is so important in your child’s early education, we recommend that all children and parents sign up for a free reading account on Oxford Owl.
The website provides you with access to many online e-books that your child can read for enjoyment at home.

If you have a favourite story that you like to read you may also find these read aloud by the author on YouTube.
Our PE days this half term will be Monday.
That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.
If you’re using Windows 10 and want to stick with a built in browser, please consider switching to Edge. Or, if you really want to enjoy the internet properly we strongly recommend downloading Google Chrome here.
